This vase is an embodiment of isolation. After teaching myself to code during the first lockdown, every step of this design inspiration- from the initial idea to the final piece- stemmed from solitude, a prominent universal theme throughout Covid-19. The texture of the vase was distributed in the piece by the idealistic line graph which bombarded us all with the hope of “flattening of the curve”, a sharp contrast from our current reality where the graph depicts a near vertical line of increasing cases. While the pattern is distributed by data, the texture itself mimics the organic rhythm of reptile skin. Twisting back and forth, the shape of this vase is reminiscent of a snake, slithering back to the theme of isolation, as snakes are solitary creatures. The loneliness of isolation has proved to be a uniting factor throughout the pandemic. Limited to 5 units.
